About Me

Disclaimer: If you’ve read the first post, this is the same exact thing homie.

Update November 2019: Jez has since graduated from Syracuse University, managed to complete his goal of visiting 50 countries before graduation (currently at 51) and is currently working and living full-time in Boston, Massachusetts at a major travel and tech company.

Yo wuddup, my name is Jezrel Sabaduquia but I go by “Jez” after my personal rebranding and corporate restructuring in 2014. I recently graduated from Syracuse University majoring in Information Management and Technology. I was originally born and raised in the Philippines but eventually moved to New York City in 2007 with my family. Ever since then, I’ve visited 51 countries and almost all of the 50 U.S. States and continue to travel around the country and the world with my parents, my friends, my school, and sometimes by myself. As you could tell by reading through this blog, I am extremely passionate about aviation and traveling. I have been obsessed with airplanes for as long as I could remember. I could literally sit at the airport and watch airplanes take off and land all day without getting bored. And fun fact, my special talent is that I can identify what airline and what type of airplane is flying overhead at any given moment in time. It absolutely has no tangible benefit to my life but some of my friends think its kinda cool. But flying for me is the one thing that makes me the happiest. I get the same exhilarating feeling of indescribable joy and excitement every time the plane takes off and I look out the window and see the world from above.

My junior year of college, I studied abroad in my favorite city in the world through DIS Copenhagen in Denmark. I have dreamt of living there since I was a little kid. When I was growing up in the Philippines, my mom gave me this geography book and one of the first pages I opened was a photo of Denmark. Ever since then, I have been obsessed with Copenhagen and the Danish culture, so it is quite unreal that I got to live a life-long dream. In addition, considering that you can pretty much fly anywhere in Europe in less than three hours and about the same cost as five Chipotle burrito bowls, I visited 21 new countries within five months.

In the summer of 2018, I interned at Southwest Airlines in Dallas, Texas. As interns, we got unlimited free travel as one of our perks. Throughout the summer, my friends and I flew across the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I want to pursue a career in aviation post-grad, which is…uhm…coming up real soon. Yikes. How did I even get here? UPDATE: THAT TIME CAME. HOW DID I EVEN GET HERE?

So if you’ve made it this far reading about my life, congratulations! You have more attention span than I do. Anyways, I will be updating this blog regularly as well as my Instagram and Snapchat, the site of my live trip reports and vlog. I hope I can inspire you to go outside, see the world, or at least give you something to read while you’re bored in a lecture, stuck on that damn 6 train, or taking a massive poop.

But in all seriousness, aviation and travel are the two things I am absolutely very passionate about. I hope you can feel this passion by reading my blog and hopefully inspire you to keep following yours or spark your next life obsession.

So make sure your seatbelts are securely fastened, tray tables and seats are in the full upright position, and your window shades are up. Enjoy this flight, welcome aboard, I am the captain now.
